One possibility is that the video game industry today simply isn't producing as many quality adventure games as they've done in the past. Most games are either RPGs, shooters, sports, or fighting. Very few consoles have quality adventure games. But because of their appeal, it is likely that we will see more of them in the future. The ironic thing about adventure games is that they may have multiple elements seen in other genres. There may be fighting, shooting, or puzzle solving.
