I thought this would be a good idea to write an article about. If you were the CEO of a video game company, how would you design your console and what would you call it? What would you name your company? Would you use a mascot like Sonic or Mario?
I would have to say if I had a video game company I would name it Orion. If I were to develop a console I would name it Tachyon VR. Tachyon is a Greek word meaning swift, and is also the name of a hypothetical superluminal particle. I think it would be a fitting name for a state of the art gaming console. VR of course stands for Virtual Reality
As far as a mascot, I would use a Valkyrie. In case you guys don't know a Valkyrie is a female minor deity in Norse mythology who serves Odin and carries the bodies of slain viking warriors into the underworld. She would be my mascot and I'd make a game about featuring a Valkyrie.
As far as design goes I would do something different than the standard "box" shape. Since a Tachyon is a particle, and particle's are typically portrayed as being circles(Even though they are waves also) I would create the console in a circular shape.
It would come with wireless vr gloves instead of controllers that glow in the dark. The gloves would have force feedback built in. On the top of the console would be circular a wave like ripple similar to those seen when you drop a small rock in a pond. The word Valkyrie would be in the innermost circle, and would also glow a purple light.
The console would also come with wireless VR goggles. Their would be no need for a tv screen because data would be sent to the goggles in a wifi type fashion directly from the console.
I would also design the console to use holographic memory instead of memory cards or a hard drive. I don't even know if this idea is feasible, but it sure sounds cool.
