Anyone can look at the available video games in 1995 and compare them to today and see that we've come a long way. The question is where do you think video games will be in the next ten years? How different do you think games ten years from now will be in comparison to today?
I believe there is a possibility that in the next ten years we could possibly see games use holograms. I also suspect that online gaming will become standard and more interactive.
VR is a serious candidate but the prices will have to come down substanially. Right now a VR system could run at least 6 grand, which is the price of a very high end computer.
Based on the current trends in gaming, I would say that games and movies will merge. The best games I've played are the ones where I feel like I'm in the game instead of being someone playing the game from the outside looking in.
In ten years see extremely advanced AI. I think in ten years we may see computers and consoles similar to the computer(Navi) Lain Iwakura had in the anime series Serial Experiments Lain. The AI will probably interact with us instead of us interacting with it.
